God's Free Gift of Salvation
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us" (Eph. 2:4).
God’s Word declares that all have sinned (Rom. 3:23), and sin separates us from a holy God who can never allow one sin in His presence. Unless our sins are taken away, sin will separate us eternally from Him in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:15). But the good news is that God is rich in mercy and loves us with a "great love." Out of that great love, He sent His perfect Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for us, to bear the full punishment for our sins at the Cross. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). To receive this free gift of salvation today, simply believe that Christ died for you, for your sins personally, and that He rose again (Rom. 3:21-26, 1 Cor. 15:3-4). Once you believe this, you are saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9), your sins are forgiven (Col. 1:14), you become a member of the Body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27), and you will spend eternity in heaven (1 Thess. 4:13-17). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9). Have you personally trusted in Christ’s finished work on the cross, without adding anything you have done—such as your own good works, obedience to the Ten Commandments, confession of sin, church attendance, water baptism, or participation in any other religious ceremonies or sacraments? Salvation truly is a free gift—simply believe. “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom. 4:5). “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 6:23). |
